Austin Leaders Visited Atlanta to Study the Development of Technology Square in an ongoing effort to Advance Downtown Austin’s Innovation Zone

In the first week of January, the Downtown Austin Alliance hosted “Destination Innovation,” a trip to Atlanta’s Technology Square. The trip included community leaders from Central Health, the UT Dell Medical School, Seton Healthcare Family, Waller Creek Conservancy, the Austin Chamber of Commerce, the City of Austin, Mayor Adler’s Office, Senator Watson and leaders of the Downtown Austin Alliance and was dedicated to exploring the success of Technology Square. Lessons learned from the trip will be an important impetus to the development of Austin’s Innovation Zone, a key part of the collaborative community vision for downtown that the Downtown Alliance will be developing in 2017.

“The dynamics of building a great city take strong leadership, trusted partners, a compelling vision, and a commitment to implementation to achieve success,” Dewitt Peart, president and CEO of the Downtown Alliance, said. "The ingredients are there. We are at a point now where it is time to implement it.”
